Pi Day is usually celebrated with your favorite pie, pizza, or naming as many digits as you can of the numerical sequence, but for us, it is in addition to something else. March 14th is the birthday of one of my best friends. His name happens to be Dave. So in his honor, we have compiled a list of some of the greatest Dave’s of all time!
From real to fictional, this will be one impressive list! Hope you enjoy the compilation of all the Daves. And of course, happy birthday to the guy who made me the Best Man at his wedding!
5 Great Dave’s
5) Dave Portnoy
The creator of Barstool Sports has to be on the list. If you love the content or like the pizza reviews, Dave Portnoy has taken the sports and entertainment content to another level. Viral videos of everything from the sports world or things you see at your local watering hole, it’s hard not to find yourself going down the rabbit hole.
Even though he is a Michigan Wolverines fan, we forgive him. He is living the life that many of us guys dream of. Hanging with your bros, gambling, and shooting the s*** is a lifestyle anyone can get used to. For that, we put Portnoy on the list!
4) Zac Efron in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
This one is more of a fictional Dave, but Zac Efron is an honorary member of the club with his role in the movie. If you’re going to sell something, it might as well be liquor! Then turning those liquor bottles into cartoon characters, what a genius! He may have a reputation, but he always tries to save the day.
Who else would come up with a great dance move after your sister gets drilled in the face by an ATV? Then, he is able to make a heartbroken woman who was stood up at the altar feel better about herself. On top of a great performance on stage at the wedding, to wrap up the night! He always has his brother’s back, so don’t call him “moist.” It’s proven that Mikes and Daves go well together!
3) David and Goliath
Talk about the ultimate underdog! It’s appropriate in March with all the madness and Cinderella stories. David took on Goliath in the original “WrestleMania!” Goliath was as intimidating as a prime Andre “The Giant.” David stood his ground, probably took off his shirt for some reason (because that’s what people do), and was ready to open a can of whoop a**.
Goliath came in, underestimating the little David. Thinking he was Deebo from Friday, but instead of a brick to the head, David did his best Bart Simpson impersonation, grabbing his trusty slingshot. Trust me, The Simpsons predicted it, I’m sure. David slew the giant and made sure no one would mock God again.
2) Dave Chappelle
The greatest skit show of all time and a hell of a stand-up comedian. Back in the early 00s, Chappelle’s Show was the most quoted thing in the halls of the high school. You didn’t want to be that kid who missed the new episode on Wednesday night. With skits that would offend everyone today, they were amazing back then. We loved the no-filter comedy.
If you’re screaming, “I’m Rick James b****!” or you’re afraid that Prince will embarrass you in a game of basketball, the two real seasons of the show were an instant classic. Millennials still quote it 20 years later, and I am still nervous to ever meet Wayne Brady!
1) Dave Thomas
Yes, the Wendy’s guy is the number one Dave of all time! The guy who brought us square meat patties and the classic Frosty! He put the ginger in the cup and made us all fall in love with it. Even though the one closest to me has terrible service, I still enjoy hitting the drive-thru every so often.
The Junior Bacon Cheeseburger has been my favorite since I was five years old, splitting a meal with my mom. Kids, ask your parents if they remember the Salad Bar! Yes, Wendy’s had a Salad Bar at one point that included tacos, nachos, and all the chocolate pudding you could eat! This is all because of you, Dave. I hope you’re resting in burger heaven.
Final Thoughts
Hope you enjoyed the list of the greatest Dave’s of all time! I hope my friend has a great birthday on his weekend getaway, and I thought this would be a fun, creative way to celebrate. Sorry, “finger-print Dave” didn’t make it this time, but we can still get into your phone to take pics. Shoutout to all the Daves out there, and maybe one day you will make the list!
